USB Keybords - Getting Into Bios, etc

Hi,
I have several USB keyboards but only one is functional during the xp home
startup process to get into bios, safe mode and xp install set up.

Why is this? Why is this one keyboard ok and the others not. I have a
keyboard/mouse/monitor switcher for three pc's and would like to get one of
the other ones to work as it's more comfortable. All keyboards work once xp
has finished loading. This scenario is true with all xp pc's without using
the switcher and plugging directly into each machine's USB port separately.
