We are a school district with 7000 computers, all of them Dell Optiplex
series. The newest model, which have 1000 of already in the warehouse have
USB keyboards and mice. They no longer offer PS/2 as an option. According
to my desktop man, we are in a lot of trouble because once these devices are
unplugged, they have to be reinstalled by an administrator. Making our
student and teachers power users or local administrators is NOT an option.
And how do you log in as administrator when the keyboard has been removed and
has to be reinstalled with the currently logged on users rights? From what
my desktop man is telling me, all manufacturers are going to this USB model.
