I am having a problem with my USB ports. They keep connecting and
disconnecting internally. I keep repeatedly hearing the sound the that
Microsoft designates for USB connecting and disconnecting. I have
researched this to no avail with Google and the MS Knowledge Base. I have
tried updating the USB drivers, uninstalling and reinstalling the USB
Enhance host Controllers and the USB Root Hubs, left clicking on them and
clicking on "update driver" and also adding a external powered USB port.
Still the ports continue to disconnect and reconnect. I have and external
USB connected hard drive, a mouse, keyboard and printer that all are
connected by the USB. If I use the printer or transfer a file to the
external drive, the operation stops when the USB disconnects and I have to
restart it when I hear the USB reconnect. I hope someone can offer a
solution that I have not tried. The repeated noise is driving me up a wall.
I have Windows XP Pro with SP2 installed.
