USB IOMega ZIP Crashes System

I have a USB Powered IOMega ZIP 100 connected to a D-Link
USB Hub (which is connected to my laptop). Everytime that
I disconnect the ZIP from the Hub my system crashes - I
have tried to hot-unplug it and then I used the 'Unplug or
eject hardware icon' and still the system crashes. The
only way that I can disconnect it is to shut the notebook
down and unplug it. I am using XP Home - does anyone know
what is wrong?

Have you tried removing the drive when it is plugged directly into the
notebook, not the hub? You also have to be sure you are stopping the
correct service.
