USB Installation Issue

I am having issues with installing USB devices. I have a USB card (from my
old motherboard) and integrated USB on my new one. Whenever I try to install
the card, or any USB device, it tells me that it cannot install the hardware
because "The data is invalid."

How could I fix this issue?

I am trying to install a Lexmark X73 All-in-One printer and a Creative
WebCam NX. Both get the same response when installing.

Thank you in advance for any help that you may be able to send my way.

Install the drivers first, before connecting or physically installing
the device? Remove all software and hardware references to the devices
with them connected, shut down, physically remove devices, install
drivers, then connect or physically install. The drivers must be
explicitly WinXP compatible also.
