I am not at home so I can't check it's name but my Sony camcorder came with an editor that would input video from either the USB or Firewire ports. I already had another video editor and Firewire card that I was using but, as an experiment I captured 4 or 5 minutes of video thru the USB port. The result not good. The captured video was very choppy and the image quality not as good as the capture through Firewire. This isn't surprising as USB just doesn't have the throughput to carry video. USB-2(or whatever they are calling it) should be much better but I don't know if anyone is building it into their cameras.
If your camera has a Firewire port I'd suggest that you install a Firewire card in your system. A Firewire card is fairly inexpensive and would produce much better results.
I have a sony mini dv handycam which has an usb output. Can I use mothe usb
input for moviemaker? If not are there any free editors which allow this?
Help would be appreciated.
