I have an external USB 2.0 hub with an external power supply.
Is it possible to feed the USB hub with the standard power supply of
computer and should I use the +5v od +12v power lead?

I also have an external USB 2.0 drive....Use the power supply provided,
that's why they included it....

Yes, I know but I build the external USB hub in a frame with a build-in
power supply and I would like to use it.

If the USB 2 hub came with a power supply, then use that one! The hub was
designed to use the included power supply and not receive power from the PC.

It will all depend on what you connect to your hub, if it
is same stuuf the computer power should be enough, but if
it is pheripals like printer or scanner you are better
using the external power supply. thats what i find works
best with my PC and external hub.
Hope this helps you
Andrew
