USB Hub - not seeing removable drives

I recently purchased an IOGEAR USB HUB, GUH284R. This unit is not only an
USB hub but it is also a media card reader. The hub works fine and in MY
COMPUTER you can see the media reader drives as Removable Disk and then the
4 drives. The problem is when I put a media card in, the little light on
the unit goes on to show it's inserted, but when I click on that drive in
Windows, it keeps asking me to insert the media. Windows does not see it.
It comes with very limited instructions so I went to the web site and it
also has very limited instructions. Before I take the unit back to the
store (am thinking it's faulty) just wanted to check that I hadn't missed
something. It comes with no drivers, so no update is required.
I have not inserted the cards incorrectly as you can only insert them one
way. I have tried 2 different media types, with no luck., unplugged and
replugged in the unit. Completely uninstalled and reinstalled, switched the
USB plug in port to another on my pc.
Have I missed or forgotten to do something?

We assume you tried ALL the "removable drives"
that get listed (up to 6 sometimes)?

There's no easy way to tell which one is the SPECIFIC
slot for the type of card you're using...you have to click
through all of them, looking for the one that you're using.

If you're only seeing one Removable Drive in Explorer,
something's wrong. All of these
cheapie devices I've seen list a Removable Drive for EACH
one of the slots.

Try different cards too, you may have a bad one.

Thanks for responding. I tried 2 of the 4 drives as I only have 2 out of
the 4 type of cards. Neither worked. The slots are made for each type of
media, no other type of media will fit into that particular slot. 2 out of
the 4 don't work. I see all 4 removable drives in Explorer. I've tried
different cards as I have 2 types of the cards, but multiples of them. I'm
thinking I will have to return this device to the store.

Try one more thing before you return it, although
it DOES sound like it's not working properly...

Put a card in while Explorer's open. Then press
F5 to refresh the screen.

Try to access the card.

If it still doesn't work, return it.

I have had good luck with SiiG multi-card readers
if you can find somebody who sells them.

Thanks very much for trying to help. Nope, that didn't work. It's going
back..I'm sure it's faulty.
