I am running a Dell Inspiron 5100 laptop with Windows XP
Professional. Three months ago I bought a D-Link USB
hub, and Windows recognized it. My four USB peripherals
operated perfectly.
In December I lost my network drivers, and eventually had
to reformat my hard drive and re-install Windows and my
drivers. Now Windows does not recognize the hub. The
peripherals operate when plugged directly into the
laptop, but not when plugged into the hub. When I start
up with the hub connected, Windows gives me the
message "Unknown device. One of the USB devices ... has
malfunctioned, and Windows does not recognize it."
Dell has done what it can, and says it's an operating
system issue.
Does anyone have advice?
