Dear all,

My internal USB ports have recently stopped working. There is no power
or information being supplied to any of my usb devices, all reference to
having usb is gone from my system (including device manager),
reinstalling software makes no difference and I've tried Windows XP and
ME OS's with no joy.

I've had a quick googlegroups and there are plenty of unresolved usb
problems (none quite like this as far as I saw) so I'm thinking it might
be a problem at the hardware level - between the motherboard and usb
ports for instance.

Anyone with a solution to this one or suggestions as to what to try next?

Tanks, Sam.

I recently had exactly the same thing happen - all my motherboard USB
ports stopped working after a power surge/brownout. The rest of the MB
still works fine (Shuttle AK31 V3.0); OS re-installs didn't help. I
would assume that you're having a hardware problem, likely one of the
(nonreplaceable) fuses or resistors on the MB has blown. I ended up
buying a cheap USB 2.0 PCI card (spent about $8 for a Syba USB 2.0 2
Ports PCI Card at www.pcimicro.com ); I'm back up to speed now - with
USB 2.0 rather than 1.1....

Good Luck!
