I just built up a new PC with P4C800E deluxe motherboard, and plugged the
sony HMD A200 CRT I already used with the previous PC.
The sony CRT includes a 4 usb hub which worked perfectly before, with the
old PC, but no more with the new one!
I had to plug directly the printer and scanner to USB plugs in the back of
the unit to make them work.
Of course I tried to disable the usb 2.0 function in the BIOS, reduce the
speed, but no success!
Maybe it's an Asus problem and they will fix it in a later BIOS update?
Has somebody any insight about this?
Thanks

Guy

It's altogether possible that the new motherboard doesn't have enough power
to power the Monitor's USB hub, that is, if the monitor itself doesn't power
the USB hub. If the Monitor doesn't power the USB hub, then the motherboard
is probably having a hard time sending enough current to it's other seven
USB ports and the four on the hub. You'll have to check into your monitor
documentation, and see if the motherboard has a setting for sending more
amperage through the USB subsystem.

The Asus board has USB 2.0. Does your Sony CRT's hub by any chance run
USB

That shouldn't matter. My P4C800-E Dlx recognizes and uses my 4 port Belkin
USB 1.1 hub without any issue.

Thank you for your advices, but the Sony CRT hub still behaves strangely :
every time I plug the scanner on it, the scanner is recognized and installed
as a new one, but when I try to scan with it I get an error message. When I
plug a simple genius optical mouse on it, it is also recognized, but doesn't
mouve the "arrow", and the led light sometimes goes off and on again...
And it is the same even if I leave only 4 USB plugs on the Unit to make a
total of 8 with the hub.
(all this appens with windows XP SP1 as operating system, the previous pc -
with which the hub showed a much better will - was running windows 98).
