Hello,
Win2k SP3 TS, Dell PowerEdge2600
I have problems with playing back files from tapes, no technical problems
but when I need something then I really need it quickly. Is it possible to
attach a USB HDD (with let's say 200GB) to a TS?
Only Administrators will use that HDD and Planned Tasks should make backup
copies during the night. So, the drive should only be available for admins
(I do not know what USB will do here). My TS is well set up, GPO's, hiding
drives etc. everything is working fine.
Other solutions will not work:
- Server is full with drives (incl. RAID)
- Backup Exec runs until 8:30 with checking contents - people start working
at 5:30, backup starts at 23:30
- using more tapes does not make sense when I need the restore at 7:30
- with 200GB I could cover min. 30 working days = 1.5 months - also if the
backup finishes early I would need 30 tapes, which are a bit expensive (EUR
40 each, in total EUR 1000 and still complicated to use)
Best regards
