I've attached a USB Hard Drive to my Windows XP Home
Edition system for the expressed purpose of doing
backups. It is working fine, however I would like Mount
this drive prior to running the backup. After the backup
completes I'd like to Dismount the drive. My goal is to
hide the drive execpt for the short time during the
backup process. A script that ran before and after the
backup and that could be included as a scheduled task is
my ideal solution. Being a XP newbie, I'd apprecciate
your assistance.

Thanks Bernie

I did find Microsoft's Knowledge Base Article 307889
which explains how to mount and dismount drives. My next
goal is to learn how to write a script so that the
process can be automated. If someone could offer some
advice, It would be a big help.

Thanks Bernie

Just double click the little Icon in the tray, click stop, when the
message comes up it is safe to remove. Remove it. It is not
good practice to leave a backup drive installed on the machine
that it is backing up. Remove it, place it in a safe place until
it is needed.
