USB Hard Drive Suggestons

I have WINXP Home on a new computer. P4, 2.8 GHZ, 512 MB, USB 2.0, 160 MB
hard drive, DVD drive (read only) and a separate CD writer.
I would like to add to my system something that I can use well with Norton
Ghost to back up my hard drive.
I have been thinking about an External USB hard drive, but I am open to
other suggestions: a second internal hard drive, a DVD writer, etc.
I would really enjoy hearing about other people who have had success or
failures do what I am trying to do, especially with Norton Ghost.
Thanks
Dave

If your data is critical, you want to have your backup
off-site in case of fire, flood or theft. External drives
are off-site if you always take them with you.
Big businesses use on-site tapes, backup files servers, an
on-line storage in SAN they own. You can find services that
will backup your data (for a reasonable fee) on their
servers. It can be done with a dial up connection, but DSL
or cable is best.

I'm thinking more along the lines of creating a cloned image as with ghost,
so that's why I think I am down to a removable hard drive or DVD recorder.
I would like to back up data with remote server, but I have dial-up with
little or no prospect for DSL or other high speed unless I decide to go with
satellite.
Thanks,
Dave

I have a USB enclosure for my backup HDD. It works just great
for me. I just happen to use Drive Image 7, which is no big
difference.
I have one image with just XP and all of the drivers and updates.
Then I have another after installing all of my basic applications and
updates. Then I will make an image anytime that I am going to install
something that I am not sure of.
I have always used a HDD for backup. I do miss the simplicity of
backing up a hard drive with W98 using xcopy.

Please can anyone tell me if this is a good piece of kit. I've bought
from this site before and found them to be good - what does anyone
think about this back-up drive??

Cheers.
