You can buy a new floppy drive for just a few dollars, maybe
as little as $5 and not more than $20.
Any XP qualified system will boot from a CD-ROM which is
better for XP because if you are running NTFS a W98 boot
floppy won't read the hard drive. [Unless you get extra
software]
| It depends on your motherboard. Consult the MB manual for
a list of
| potential boot devices. If a USB flash drive is listed,
then check the BIOS
| setup to be sure that it is the first type of boot device,
CD second, and
| hard disk last.

| However, be warned that some programs insist on a floppy
or nothing to get
| drivers. The classic example is the installation of XP
itself for RAID
| and/or SATA and/or SCSI.
