I plugged my Apacer Handy Steno 2.0 flash memory device
into a USB port on my new HP Pavilion A400Y computer and
the device is shown in the Device Manger, but not in
Windows Explorer or anywhere in My Computer when I try to
open a document through Word. I checked the display
button on the Safely remove hardware dialog box, but it
doesn't help. I added a registry entry under
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Services\USB
-> DisableSelectiveSuspend (REG_DWORD, value=1) per a
knowledge base article, but it didn't help. I then left
the device attached to the computer and restarted it. The
device appeared in Windows Explorer, but as a previously
mapped network drive (F: drive is reserved for a company-
wide database/application connection). I was able to copy
the contents of my device (which was critical), but when
I removed the device it was not available again and the
F: drive reverted to the network drive. I'm at a loss
about this problem and have yet to find a KB article that
fits my problem.....Please any help would be greatly
appreciated!!!!
