USB - external DVD Writer

Hello,
I want connect a extenal DVD- Writer with USB to a
W2K Wokstation.
My questions are:
is it possible? if yes
which W2K patch level is requierd or
wich other Software is requierd?

I assume the drive is USB 2.0. Therefore you first have to get Windows 2000
to install USB 2.0 drivers. This article discusses how that is done. It
requires SP4. If this doesn't work then you may end up have to go to your
motherboard manufacturer to get USB 2 drivers.

After that is done you should be able to plug in you DVD and have Windows
recognize it. Then you need to install the burning software that came with
the drive. I have never done this so don't know of any potential problems
but this is how I expect it to work.

Yes, possible. IDE TDK Indi DVD writer in USB2 enclosure
works fine. Win2k SP4 (default USB2 drivers for VIA chipset), Roxio EzCreator 6.
