Hi... I really hope that someone can help me. I have
been continuously getting a USB Device Not Recognized
message, however there are no USB devices connected to my
laptop.
I'm running Win XP home. My computer is a Dell Inspiron
M600.
I can't seem to stop it and it's really annoying.

Thanks, in advance, for your help!

I think it's complaining that the USB drivers for the USB ports aren't
installed correctly, not the drivers for a non existant USB device.

Go into the Device Manager (right click on My Computer, select the Hardware
tab, then click on Device Manager)... scroll down till you see the USB
Controller entry, click on the + to expand the tree and then right click
each Root Hub and select Uninstall. Do this for each entry until they're
all done.

Reboot the PC and XP should refind them and reinstall the correct drivers.

Thanks for the response Cari!

I uninstalled the root hubs but unfortunately it has not
solved the problem. I still get the error message
popping up. Any other suggestions???????

Thanks again for your time.

I have the same problem and was on the phone with
Microsoft Technical Support for almost 3 hours and we
couldn't fix the problem. Is there anyone here who has
any luck with the same issue? Thanks!
Lisa
