I did a bad thing. I installed an external HD (A-Neo Tech) that uses USB2.
I also installed the USB2 driver that came with the device. Now my USB2
ports do not work. How do I get rid of the installed drivers and go back to
the Windows supplied drivers. XP Pro SP2.

Thanks for the suggestion. I need a little more clarification: Where do I
find "downloads/chipset/software"? The board is a FOXCONN 945 and I have
looked at their website and cannot figure out which motherboard it is. And
remember I haven't been able to remove the bad drivers yet.

Actually you'd find that windows supplied usb drivers are not the answer.Try
installing the chipset installation utility for youre boards chipset. If
intel,find the
download for youre chipset thru device mgr or use thier chipset id
utility,found
at downloads/chipset/software.The chipset installation utility gets youre
boards
hardware active, usb is also included as is windows SP1 & SP2....

Under the Device Manager list, and under the particular device, it allows
you to "roll back" to the previous driver - or else you could do a system
restore.

Thanks Andrew. There seems to be no older driver to "roll back" to and
system restore does not reset the drivers, it keeps the ones that are there.
I really need to get this fixed.

You have a proprietary computer (OEM), since you mentioned FOXCONN. Go
to the manufacturers web site for support.
I have never seen the need to install USB drivers after WindowsXP-SP2.

No Frank, I agree I did not need the drivers because XP provides them, BUT I
got ahead of myself and installed them. Now how do I get them out or how can
I go around them? The website of the manufaacturer shows 6 variations of the
motherboard. Which one is mine?

Based on no weblink, no description of the motherboard except a model
number, if that's what it is (???); how do expect anyone to decide what's
appropriate in your situation?
