I have a small game program on [a USB flash drive, that]
opens and will install on my laptop, yet when I try to do
the same on the desktop pc I keep getting a program not
resopnding message. Is this the drive or something to do
with the pc? I have formatted the usb drive and put the
program back on it, but same results.
Since it works on your laptop, suspect the PC. What is the
exact error message? Can you copy any files from your PC to
and from the USB drive? Copying files is about the only
thing the flash drive is expected to do. Which program is
"not responding"?
No programs will respond.
Upgrade Windows 98 to Windows XP or higher.
Yes I am able to copy files from the PC to the USB drive.
And vice versa? Apparently the USB flash drive is functioning
properly.
The message says" there may be a problem with your hardware
or network connections".
Copy the game installation file to your PC and install the game
from there.
Maybe I should uninstall the USB
I do not know what that means.
and reboot for Windows to reinstall?
I am drawing another blank.
What would the network connections have to do with it?
What are you trying to do?
OK, I downloaded a game to my laptop, then I put it on a USB so
I could play it on the desktop PC.
Some programs do not require installation, other programs do. Your
meaning of "play it on the PC" is difficult to understand.
When I try to run it from the USB drive or copy it to the
desktop it doesn't respond.
Programs are not asked to respond when they are being copied. I
would guess that the file is in use somehow. That suggests that
you have done something with the file (like run it from the USB
drive) before trying to copy it to the PC.
I will figure it out 2nite.
Thanks for not top posting, but please respond individually to
each part of my reply (as I am doing to yours) if you need further
assistance.
You might also consider the possibility your game file is chock
full of viruses. As far as I know, the best way to infect your PC
is by running a file that you have downloaded. Programs gain
access to all sorts of stuff once you allow them to run/install.- Hide quoted text -
