hi

i have connected a USB drive(128 MB) to my Pc using USB
drive slot. My system is having Win-XP Operating system.

But even after connecting to proper slot the OS is unable
to list the "Removable Media" or USB drive.(but displays
USB drive in Win-2000 as G: drive in one of my friends PC
within seconds of connecting it).

i tried to start the Plug and play from Services by
starting it. And by configuring Device Manager-universal
serial bus controllers -> usb root hub.

but nothing is working.

i want to know the exact problem. Whether this problem is
due to improper connection or any thing else like driver
is not installed.

bye

thanks and regards

If you solve this I need to know. In my case XP just
decided not to recognize my external harddrive any more.
It still works with other computers. (e-mail address removed)

I'm having the same problem with Windows XP
The operating system recognizes when an external device (i.e. camera, printer, hard drive) has been plugged in, but the devices won't show up under My Computer. The USB host controllers and root hubs are working fine but I still can't access the various devices
When I plug in my digital camera and then turn it on, this will often cause my pc to restart automatically.
