The computers in my computer lab don't have any USB 2.0 ports on them, but it
does have FW 400/800. I have a friend coming in tomorrow who's external HD
only connects through USB 2.0. I have my own external HD connected through FW
800. This is what i'm wondering.

Could I:
a) Connect his USB 2.0 drive to my external HD using a USB 2.0 -> FW 400/800
cable? Thus, would his drive mount onto my Windows 2K desktop through daisy
chaining?

or

b) Connect his USB 2.0 drive directly to my computer tower using a USB 2.0
-> FW 400/800 cable?

USB 2->fw cables are rare to the point of being nonexistant. THere's
only 1 that I know about, and it only works with the device it comes
with.

You CAN get PCI cards with both USB 2 and firewire.

You can also extract the hard drive from its cage, and use it
internally.
