I have just loaded Windows 2K and have installed all the
updates. Now the USB devices are not identified. The USB
worked fine under Windows XP. I have tried a USB mouse and
a external disk drive.

Any ideas?

Did you load the drivers for the devices that you are
trying to use?

Yeah, this is an odd one. I've had some problems with USB too... basically,
sometimes an item won't power up when it's plugged in, even at startup.
Other times, plugging in one device will disable another, etc. This happens
whether I use the built-in USB ports or a hub, across multiple machines
running different OSs. (And no, I'm not going over the allotted
bandwidth/power allowances either!)

I'm beginning to wonder if it's a way the USB standard itself is being
handled, at least by some manufacturers. For now, the best advice I can give
is to check to make sure USB is enabled in your BIOS (CMOS), see if the
ports show up in Win2000's hardware manager (to see if the ports are
correctly installed), and if the device still doesn't work, unplug it and
try a different port on your system. You might get lucky.
