Subject: Balance Technology A535 laptop, came with xp-home, will see devices
that came with the computer but will not load others, mice, keyboard, some
fobs. Thought the problem was hdw, loaded new hd put on xp-pro works great
with the original and all other usb devices i have tried. Is there a
difference between the 2 versions to cause that. All updates have been
applied to both versions!

Did you install the software for the devices BEFORE connecting them to the
notebook?

No preinstalation in either case, xphome sometimes sees but won't load, xppro just sees and loads and ready, same devices, keyboard mouse fob etc.

So if you can understand the two different versions are acting very different as far as seeing the devices and making them work. So is the Home edition supposed to work like the Pro edition, and if so how can it be fixed?

After you formatted, did you remember the motherboard chipset utility
drivers?

Same computer, same BIOS, hdw, and all mb drivers installed no problem!!
2 different hd one with original xp-home, the other with xp-pro.
The home unit will not recognize common usb devices, like kb, mouse, fobs, etc
The pro version not only recognizes the same usb devices and loads them
without human intervention.
The varible is the 2 different versions of xp, is this normal, my experience
is that it is not, many other computers with xp-home recognize these common
devices and load just fine.
I am wondering if there is a fix for this in the home edition, trying to
avert the reload of all the data and programs on the xp-home edition that
came with the unit!!!
Thanks
