Just installed a Western Digital USB external hard drive. Dell computer
XP2000 recognizes it but shows it as "unreadable". What do I do to get data
off this device? WD referred me to Dell. Two hours talking to an Indian and
no luck so he referred me back to WD. Help!

Did it came with an encryption software that has
to be installed to access it?

If it is a new external hard drive, did you format it? XP
disk management should see the drive when it is connected,
when you format it XP should assign a drive letter.
