The message "USB device not recognized" pops up every few
seconds on my task bar. Worst of all, I don't even have
anything attached to my usb ports on a dell latitude D600,
so unpluggin the device is not an option. In device
manager, there are no errors listed.

The message first appeared when I tired to attach a ps/2
mouse w/ a usb adapter. It didn't work, I got the "usb
device not recognized", and I unplugged it. Ever since,
the message just keeps popping up.

The Dell technician tried several patches and updates,
deleteing and reinstalling my usb driverss, etc, but
nothing seemed to work. He final suggeted that I reinstall
Windows XP professional from the CD.

Please help, its driving me crazy, and I can't imagine what
a pain it would be to have to reinstall and setup all of my
programs and files!

Thanks!

john

try goto add/remove programs .....remove usb flash driver.
if you get usb device in future....should be able to re-
install drivers from add/remove components.

by the way these new small usb stortage devices (fit i
your shirt pocket) are the neatest things....32mb can
hold ms-money program and backup with lots of free
space ....data is not on hard drive.....very safe....
remove drive take with you....anyone invades your
harddrive and they cannot find anything.....i have 1-gb
usb plug-in device and nothing on my hard drive.
