"Support for Media Transfer Protocol in Windows XP requires the installation of
Windows Media Player 10 or Windows Media Player 11. Windows Vista, however,
offers support for MTP natively – putting this protocol on a par with other
protocols such as USB MSC."

User manual - is it the PMP3522 ? (18MB download)
Note that this manual is very strange. It consists of bitmap images, and
it causes my copy of Acrobat reader to leak memory (each viewed page just
eats more system memory, until my system started to slow down - had to
quit Acrobat reader before I got to the end of the document).

With the PMP3522 plugged in, try this program, and see if the PMP3522 is
visible as a USB entry. UVCView is downloadable from the menu on the upper
right, and it can display a list of connected USB devices.

Have you tested the USB port on your computer ? Does it still work ?

Is the USB cable you are using, a good one ?

I presume the battery on the PMP3522 is fully charged.

Disable USB Legacy Support in your BIOS.

What exactly is "usb legacy support"? Is that support for older versions
of the usb standard pre 1.1?

It allows use of USB keyboards and mice when running older operating systems
like DOS that don't support USB.
