Hi

I'm sorta new to this but i have been having similar problems with my USB
devices i have tried the fore mentioned remedy to no avail. The symptoms of
my problem are similar but not the same, When ever i connect my ipod or
digital camera instead of being greeted by the little chime and a program
starting all i get is the safely remove icon. Then when i go to " My computer
to try and activate either device, (they appear as removeable disk H and I)
the message " The disk drive in H: or I: is not formatted do you want to
format. Now i tried the format once with the ipod and it was unsuccesfull but
i will not try that with my camera is there are way to many important photo's
to loose. I have tried many times unsuccesfully to reload all of the drivers
for the ipod and camera i have even tried un installing the usb drivers. I am
at wits end and i need to move the files off my camera as my partner is due
to give birth any day now and i need the space.

Any help would be greatly appreciated

Donny

For the camera, a good solution is to use a card reader. It works
better... particularly when a speedy resolution is desired!

Well it isnt correctly identifying any device apart from my printer and game
controllers. When it comes to putting anything with memory in the usb port
the only time it even looks as though it has still recognised the device
properly is in the safely remove screen after you click the mass storage
device you get three choices and the ipod and camera are choices when plugged
in though you still cannot run them properly

Are they assigned drive letters?

Right click on My Computer and select Manage. On the following screen,
click on Disk Management. Do they show up on the right hand side of the
screen?

Yes I already tried that as i had seen that remedy for the problem in posts
already on this site.

I have discovered another peculiartity with this problem though, that is
when i use another partition of my drive i can acess both the ipod and camera
even though their is no software loaded onto that partition.
