USB controllers

In Home Windows XP, when I get into Device Manager, I find
for the USB device the lines:
SIS7001 PCI to USB open host Controller (3x)
SIS PCI to USB enhanced Contoller (1x)
USB2.0 Root Hub (1x)
USB Root Hub (3x)
I have 4 USB ports.
My question is, does my computer need all these
Controllers? I have problems with my USB printer and try
to eliminate as many probable causes as possible.
 
I would try uninstalling 2 each of the USB Root Hub and SIS7001. Just
leave one instance of both.
