Hello guys n gals,
I've recently purchased a broadband package which came with a usb cable modem. It will install the drivers for the modem up to a point then the system hangs. When i unplug the modem, the drivers finish installing and tells me to reboot my pc. After doing so the computer doesn't recognise that the modem is installed, and i cannot access the interenet. Anyone PLS HELP!!!

If your modem and computer have the ability to connect to each other via a
CAT5 (network) cable I would suggest going that route. It is how mine is
set up and works great. If you want to share the internet connection with
more than one pc, take a look at a cable/dsl router with built in
switch/hub. I use Linksys and it works well and easy set up.

Call your cable provider.

Hi SmallSam,

1. Disconnect broadband modem
2. Uninstall broadband modem drivers and any software loaded for it
3. Reboot the computer
4. Install broadband modem software
5. Reboot the computer
6. Connect broadband modem
7. Found new hardware balloon should show up in your system tray
8. Let it find the driver
9. If necessary, reboot the computer

A lot of the newer devices require that you install the drivers and software BEFORE you connect the device.
