I have a Iomega Zip CD 650. I have installed all the latest software/patches/etc. I have all the latest Windows updates, and there are no new integrated drivers available. I can read from the drive OK, but software will not recognize to write - ANY SUGGESTIONS? There are NO ! or X on anything in the system properties, everything states that it is "working properly". I've tried CD-R's and CD-RW's. No change. I just receive a message - E:\ is not accessible. Incorrect Function

Thanks, in advance, for your help.

If you are trying to save or drag and drop directly to CD, this is known as
packet writing and XP does not support that function natively. This
requires third party software such as the Direct CD component of Easy CD
Creator, www.roxio.com or the InCD component of Nero, www.nero.com.

Check the web sites for version compatibility with XP as well as compatible
CD-Writers.

Unless the software that came with your drive supports packet writing, you
cannot save or drag and drop files directly to CD in XP as that function is
not supported natively in XP.

I have EZ CD Creator, Roxio software and the Iomega HotBurn. When you open any of the programs, it gives me the drive not accessible message. I can, however, put a preformatted CD in the drive and read it's contents/play an audio CD/install from/etc. I just can't burn. It DOES have a drive letter associated with it. Under types, it has recognized that it is an Iomega ZipCD 650. I've checked my ASPI settings - they are "null". Should they be set to "ATAPI"? I was reading on another site that this can sometimes cause a problem. I also have an internal DVD/CD - which I'm having NO problems with (yet)

Thanks again for your help

Check this, Admin tools> services
IMAPI CD-Burning COM Service
This service should be set to automatic if it is disabled
you will never be able to burn.
