USB camera not recognised !

I've just bought a FujiFilm S6500fd and in my haste to view the photos I
connected the camera via USB before loading the software. WINXP failed to
locate the correct driver opting for a generic version instead. Even after
loading the finepix viewer package (incl drivers) my camera is still not
recognised. I've uninstalled the generic driver from device manager and
rebooted several times but every time I reconnect the camera I get Code 38
saying that windows can't load the driver as there is still one previously
loaded in the memory ?? Can anyone help ? VMT

You may get better help from somebody else to resolve this issue, but if
not, purchase a USB memory card reader and transfer the photos using it.

you might see something in
task manager in which case you
can end/kill the process.

but the suggestion to get
a generic card reader is a good one,
since the simple driver for a reader is
almost guaranteed to work better than
the complicated and unique driver
for the physical camera.

using a card reader is better
anyways. But if your camera
can also be used as a webcam,
then you would need the specific
drivers for the camera.

there may be additional faq's or
patches at the parent site for your
camera's maker...

I am having the same problem on but with a canon camera, but I downloaded the
software first, then connected the camera. But with this experience of
taking hours of trying to trouble shoot this problem verifies why I own a
MAC!!!!! This does not happen with my MAC. I don't even have to install the
software for the camera, it automatically goes to iphoto and the the download
starts!! All I can say is buy a MAC.
