re: F8T003uk v2 - Bluetooth USB Adapter. XP Pro SP2.

Hi - after installing XP sp2 my Bluetooth device no longer functions, its
broke !
Anybody got same prob or solution?

Microsoft solution don't work.
http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx?kbid=883258&product=windowsxpsp2
They suggest deleting reg keys etc., makes no difference.

Belkin solution don't work.
They say it's Microsoft's fault. They say uninstall sp2
or remove the Microsoft Bluetooth Enumerator from Bluetooth Radio Devices
That has no effect and the Microsoft Bluetooth Enumerator re-appears on next
boot.

Any ideas. please

Hi there,

I got a fine Acer Ferrari 3000MLi Notebook that worked great until I
came up with the stupid idea that I have to install SP2 of XP in order
to not having to install all the small bugfixes and service updates...
But ever since I did install SP2 I experienced the same problems as you
mentioned. Bluetooth is not working any longer. It does not work with
the ms-drivers and now that I tried to install the drivers that worked
without SP2 it doesn't work either. If anyone has a solution to this or
can guess what to do I'd be more then pleased to hear their suggestions.
Unfortunately I actually wanna keep the SP2 but then again I of course
also wanna use my intgrated Bluetooth...

Sorry that I couldn't come up with any Ideas so far, BrianT - just
wanted to let you know that you're not out there alone... ;)

So far I'm pretty sure that there's a conflict between the Widcomm and
MS Bluetooth drivers but I'm not able to be more specific and after all
it's just a guess...

Best regards,

Tobias

I had the same problems with the Bluetooth vs SP2. I had a Belkin USB
adapter but appears that the Microsoft driver overwrites the original. I did
contact Belkin and got the following reply:

"If you want to use the Belkin Bluetooth driver for the device, instead of
the Microsoft Service Pack 2 Bluetooth driver, it can be selected in Device
Manager: Go to Control Panel / System / Hardware / Device Manager and select
the Belkin Bluetooth Device driver. Right-click on the driver and select
Update Driver / Install from a List or Specific location. Select Don't Search
/ Next. Choose the Belkin Bluetooth Device and continue with the update.

After installing Windows XP Service Pack 2, some previously installed
Bluetooth utilities and drivers may become inoperative. These issues are
covered in Microsoft Knowledge Base article: 883258 available at
Support.Microsoft.com

To detect and use services of a Bluetooth device, place the device in
"Discoverable Mode" and have the Belkin utility Search For Devices in Range.
Once a device is detected, Pair with it and check for available services."

I am only a novice but managed (somehow) to get the above to work and was
happily using Bluetooth again using the original drivers.

I have noticed since that when I unplug the device and plug it back in again
it reverts back to the Microsoft drivers so I need to do the above again!

Almost the answer but not quite - sorry.

Well thank you for your help Bilbo, but unfortunately it didn't work out
for me. My Windows pretends to NOT having a Bluetooth device attached
at all. So I have two nice bluetooth icons in the tray but no bluetooth
device (according to windows). So what am I to do? I'd be happy to hear
anything and everything about how to get my bluetooth working again! I
now tried as i think everything but uninstalling SP2 and actually i
still wanna keep it since i hate doing all these small hotfix
windowsupdates. But then again I'd also prefer to have a working
bluetooth. Would be great if anyone knows a solution to this....
Best regards,

Tobias
