USB Audio Codec

I purchased an Ion USB turntable with Audacity software ver 1.23 to convert
records to cds. My problem is when I load the Audacity on my Compaq S5000CL
desktop, it can't find a driver named USB Audion Codec. Compaq (HP) told me
to update my Realtech AC'97 audion drivers. That has already been done months
ago. I also loaded the Audacity software on my Compaq Presario M2007US laptop
with no problem and works as advertised.

Any way I can get the USB Audio Codec driver for my desktop?

Dont think one exists to what youre thinking it could do...Youre actually
moving
in the wrong direction for recording. All one needs,& the way you should
go,simply
download WM encoder 9 series + its utilities, install the WM codec package
while
youre at it.Then simply run the music from youre audio to pc-in sound, run
thru
2 rca cables via Y connector (radio shack or grocery store),set audio
properties
to line-in,set the encoder to "capture audio/video",record.You're recording
problems will cease & youre recording quality will too.Get all from
microsoft

I also have purchased an ION USB turntable. It works and records fine but
the WAV files that the software creates when I export the file to Windows are
10 times bigger than a normal WMA file that is created when I rip a track
straight from a CD. Is there a way I can reduce the file size of the WAV or
convert it to WMA to save space on my hard disk. If anyone can help??
Please??
