Hi,
I hope someone can help me boot with USB as the only hard drive (c:). I
checked articles on USB boot and they required WinXP hard drives. Is it
possible to boot with only USB in your x86 board?
I tried to boot WinXP embedded from USB. I tried FAT partition of the USB
from Win 98 fdisk utility and it did not work. I checked it and it had FAT16
partition. Is FAT32 partition needed for this?
Any help would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks,
Ansuya

Thanks Sean. Yes, I am following Dietmar's USB solution. However I am not
clear on few things. Does the tutorial assume that there is always a WinXPe
OS running on the hard drive? Can I just generate image of WinXPe in WinXP
environment and copy the files in USB drive? So how the registry hive system
for WinXPe be generated from WinXP OS?
My environment has WinXPe image being generated in WinXP environment. I
tried dual booting both WinXP and WinXPe (in another partition) by changing
boot.ini, but it did not work. I must be missing some steps. Please help with
both USB boot and dual boot problems.

I have only been passively watching Dietmar's progress over the past few
months. There were allot of steps involved in the beginning, but it seems he
has refined the process. I am not sure if he has made an attempt with XPe,
but you can ask him. I haven't dove into this one yet myself so I am not
mutch help here. I am still hoping that MS will add USB boot support in the
future, although this might have to be a future OS.
