I have installed a USB PCI card on my tower but I am being told that
it can't install properly as it needs the USB Controller. It then asks
me for the CD that came with the card - there was no CD! I have
checked my motherboard manufacturer SIS who say that they are not
allowed to put the driver on the web because Microsoft won't let them,
and they tell me to go to Microsoft to download it from there - but I
can't find it anywhere!

AFAIK I have all the updates to XP Professional.

Any ideas guys?

Roger

Lets see you installed a 3rd Party USB card but you asked your MOBO
manufacturer for drivers??
Ever thought of going to the Card Manufacturer's website and looking??

Have you tried going to the MS web site and scanning for updates? The driver
may be there.

USB drivers are on the SP1 disk. If you originally installed them
then you may have to uninstall them then reinstall them from the CD.
When you installed the card your computer didn't automatically pick up
the drivers. That is why you have to uninstall then reinstall them. This
is a quirk in XP. :-)
