hi
I have attempted to install a USB2 PCI card. Loading the
drivers from the supplied CD fails with an error saying
device not configured correctly. I have also downloaded
latest drivers from manufacturers website with same
result. I have tried this with both a NEC card and a VIA
card with identical results. I am running XP with all
latest updates on an Athlon 1.4 processor. What am I
doing wrong??
Thank you
Steve

Don't know, what directions are you using? Are you
installing the drivers before installing the card or after
the card is in-place?

Have you checked the mfg'r web site for help or FAQ pages?

I have followed instructions - install drivers before
installing card. When failed I have been to manufacturers
web site, downloaded latest drivers, tried again.
Uninstalled etc, removed pci card, tried again. Device
manager shows device with a question mark with device not
configured correctly(code1) but when pc rebooted 'found
new hardware' popup shows correct name for the device.

[Clarification to my last statement below]
I would try not to install the drivers and software that came with the CD
(as the CD drivers are really meant for OS that do not have USB 2.0 support,
like Win98), and just rely on these instructions in the KB above (especially
for an NEC or VIA usb 2.0 controller) for XPSP1 and later operating systems.
