Why do my USB 2.0 hubs show up as only USB root hubs in Device Manager. I
have installed SP1, all the critcal updates, updated my BIOS, I have the
latest mobo drivers. This has only happened after I had to reformat my hard
drive a few months. I have tried going into the registry to change the name
on the usb hubs, but nothing I do makes a difference. When I got to update
the drivers, t does not give me the option for a USB 2.0 Root hub. I've
tried uninstalling all the USB controllers and hubs and devices, and letting
windows re-discover them, but nothing seems to work. This is happening on
both the USB 2.0 controller on my mobo, and on the add-on pci card I have.

Any real ideas ur suggestions?

Declan.

In device manager under USB controllers, you should see the line " standard
enhanced PCI to USB host controller" indicating USB 2.0 is enabled

Read my post. It does show up as Standard Enhanced PCI to USB controller,
but the hubs still show up as basic USB Root Hub. USB 2/0 does work on my
pc, but it's just that the hubs aren't being displayed as they should be.

My USB 2.0 Hubs don't have the 2.0.

I think the post above is trying to tell you that, if the controller shows
as Standard Enhanced PCI to USB Host controller, it means that your usb is
enabled as 2.0.

In any case, that certainly is true in my case.
