Wednesday eve

This happened to me a few months ago.

Plugging-in a USB drive presents the message to attach to a faster usb port.

I click the message the hub is in bold and therefore a 2.0 hub.

None of the ports are in bold.

=============================

I have removed all of the usb instances from the device manager about once a
week. No joy.

And also:
6. Incidentally, the Device Manager displays that there is an enhanced USB
host controller.

Advise please

Don't hijack someone else's thread. Start your own.
How can he do that, with his usb ports running at low speed ?

Thank you for your response and concern.

Not hijacked. Just continued.

No answers in the hardware forum.

So now posted here for different eyes.

All was well since I installed vista in January 2007.

For about the last 2+ months whenever I plug-in a USB drive a message is
displayed which reads, "This device can perform faster ... if you connect it
to a Hi-spped USB 2 port".

Clicking the balloon opens a list of USB hubs and devices. The HUb is BOLD
but not the indivdual ports.

I have removed all of the usb instances from the device manager about once a
week. No joy when they are reinstalled.

This is a VIA Chipset for an AMD CPU.

did you remove the USB controller and let it reinstall?
find a newer or current driver for your chipset?
usually when a 2.0 capable controller shows as a 1.1 it is the driver.
