This really has no place in a windows forum but here I go anyway...

I have an older motherboard with USB 1.0 pins and uh..*ahem, can I attach a
2.0 PC mount cable to it? Itll fry my box right? Ive been asking around and
trolling search engines and have failed to get a definitive answer.

Since you are attaching to USB 1 pins it will operate at USB 1. The cable is nothing special, but
is capable of USB 2 if connected to a USB 2 source.

You can get a PCI USB2.0 card.

If you want to run something from the pin on the motherboard any cable
should do.... but it won't be a USB2.0 speed, it will still be at the slow
old rate of USB1.1.
