USB 2.0- not the way it should be

I recently installed a USb 2.0 port on my computer. Coming from that port, i
have a 4 port hub, 2.0 enabled. I also have my Nikon Coolpix 4600 camera
hooked up to that hub, and I am trying to download pictures from the card.
You see.... I thought 2.0 was supposed to be a fast port. It's going just as
slwo as the 1.1. Why is this? I have about 50 pictures on the camera's SD
memory card, and it still takes about a minute to download them all. I
expected it to take no more than 5 seconds with a 2.0. And the answer is
yes... the usb cable is 2.0 as well..

Make sure that you have the latest USB 2.0 drivers that are available in
Windows XP Service Pack.

When you say you installed a "installed a USb 2.0 port", you do mean a USB
2.0 PCI card, plugged into the motherboard correct?
And you are running Windows XP.

Some web sites suggest this camera has a USB 1.1 port others say USB 2...

Perhaps they are in error or perhaps Nikon changed it and you have an old
version?

Nikons own site says the camera's interface is "USB"

Since on some other Cameras they say "USB 2.0" on the Nikon site, it
would seem that this particular camera is USB 1.1 since it does not
say "USB 2.0" in the specs.

If the camera is not also USB 2.0 specs, you gain nothing.
