USB 2.0 issues

I did that, but this is what happened.

Before updating the drivers from the ASUS website,
whenever I would plug in my USB2.0 CDRW I would receive a
message that the device needed a high speed port and also
the message said no high speed ports were on the
computer. But, most of the ports are 2.0USB. So, I
downloaded the drivers at it fixed all the back ports,
but the front two got worse after the patch.

After installing the USB 2.0 drivers it started giving me
an Unknown Device error when plugging it in...but it
still recognized USB 1.1 items.

There are three USB connectors on the ASUS P4B266. Two
are USB2.0 certified, while the other is 1.1. There is a
mini hub that comes with the motherboard (4 ports). So,
each connector supports 2 USB ports. I have the 2 front
USB ports hooked up to one of the USB2.0 connectors on
the motherboard.

I don't think there is any difference between a USB 1.1 &
2.0 connector, but maybe there is.

I just did some research on that motherboard and here's
what I found out. You are correct the USB ports on the
back are USB 2.0, however, the front USB are limited to
1.1 because. I found this at this website:
http://usa.asus.com/prog/spec.asp?langs=09&m=p4b266-c
Let me know if that makes any sense...

Why don't you post your Asus questions at www.asusboards.com/forums ?? It
is a very helpful place for all Asus related issues. Also good is the
newsgroup alt.comp.periphs.mainboard.asus

Just a thought.

Maybe a dumb question... does the case you are using support USB 2.0
connections? Not all cases do and there is a difference.

FWIW,

Both cases say they have 2.0USB compat ports on the
front. Both cases are from Antec (Sonata & Lanboy), but
I guess stranger things have been known to happen. I am
going to call Antec Monday, because all the tests have
lead me to believe that either the cabling to the front
port is not USB2.0 compat or maybe they installed the
wrong USB port.

So, did you finally get it resolved? or is it still up in
the air? I would be interested in what drives you used
to get it to work.

I've tried 3 different drivers and all had the same
outcome.
