Recently I had to do a System Recovery on my HP Pavillion ze4115 laptop.
This is a Windows XP home system, I then installed my USB 2.0 expansion
card using the drivers that came with it. I then plugged in my Western
Digital 80 g USB 2.0 external hard drive. I have noticed that since the
system recovery My reads and writes from the drive are rather slow and
even hangs up the drive/computer.

I have checked for comflicts, and other settings in properties. I also
remmoved the Fast Find indexing, but that didn't make any difference.

Hoping someone has a clue. Western Digital didn't I should mention that
it works fine on my Windows ME desktop, but doesn't read and write like
it did on the laptop prior to the system recovery.

Thanks
Terry

You probably need SP1...

Jim, should have mentioned that I did the Windows updates, including the
SP-1 and all the security updates. I did it twice.. ;-) Didn't install
my anti-virus and got hit with the MS-Blaster in the MS messenger..
Had to do the System Recovery twice. I then loaded my Anti-virus and did
the updates.

Thanks
Terry

If you turn the XP ICF on it will prevent Blaster, while you
do the updates.

Good luck.

The SP-1 Update was done and all the Window updates before loading any
software and hardware (Except the Anti-Virus). Would the NTSF files
going to a drive that is Fat32 be part of the problem?
