Can anyone tell me where to get drivers for a generic USB
2.0 pci card I installed. Microsoft doesn't let you
download drivers for XP. My pci host card is based on a
via tech chipset. The model is "V6202" usb 2.0. Anyone
know how to get the drivers for it????

USB 2.0 drivers are included in Windows XP Service Pack 1 (which you should
have installed)

"Microsoft doesn't let you download drivers for XP" if your
software is pirated.

Try VIA for drivers.

You may have to install USB 2.0 chipset drivers as well.

USB 2.0 drivers only come with XP SP1, and there is a catch if you get
the 'express' version - they will not get downloaded unless you already
have a USB 2.0 controller installed - with drivers.

If no drivers came with the card, I suggest you go to Windows Update and
on the left take Windows Update Catalog (you may need to use
'personalise' first). WIth that take the lower item - Drivers etc, and
in that Other Devices (USB etc). Then select Microsoft Corporation;
Windows 2000 (not XP) and in the 'Contains' box type in USB

This will offer a download of Win2000 USB 2.0 drivers which appear to be
the same as the XP SP1 ones, for NEC or VIA chipsets, and run to extract
to a folder. Then use Add Hardware; manual and select from a list and
in Other devices browse to the .inf file of the set
