USB 2.0 devices connecting at 1.1

I am running XP PRO SP2. I have an Intel MB (D845EBG2) capable of USB
2.0 (which I learned only after installing USB 2.0 PCI card (long
story - I had not enabled high speed usb in the bios). The PCI card
works fine. The 7-port hub I have plugged into it works fine. I
installed front USB that plugs into the 9-pin USB port on the MB. For
some reason, anything I plug into the front ports results in windows
telling me it is a 2.0 device plugged into a 1.1 port. Also, all the
USB ports on the MB are only 1.1 when I have enabled 2.0 in the bios
settings.

Problem 2 - Similarly, I have a front removable high-speed multi-card
reader that plugs into the internal port on the PCI USB card. When I
plug it in, Windows gives me the 1.1 v 2.0 warning again. Yet, if I
unplug it and plug my IPod directly into the internal port, it operates
at 2.0.

I've noticed that when I look at my device manager in windows, I have
two groups called
'universal serial bus controllers' instead of one. It appears that the
first group contails all the USB ports/hubs that are 1.1 (but should be
2.2 !) and the second group contains all those items that are at 2.0.

Does anyone have any advice on how to get these all working correctly ?
I've updated all drivers.
Thanks.....

Probably you need to reinstall the driver package for your mobo,
after you enabled USB2 in the BIOS.

PA - considering the number of posts I have seen on similar issues and
the lack of responses with solutions, I'm amazed at how simple this
was. Everything is working great. Thanks. There are a ton of people
out there with problems getting their devices to operate on 2.0. I'd
be willing to bet that a number of them can be solved in a similar
manner.
