When I plugged in a new dazzle high speed usb 2.0 compact
flash reader, XP finds it as a generic storgae device but
give teh message cannot install hardware

"the pescified device does not exist as an installed
servie"

Anyone know what the problem is?

TIA,,

You probably should have install software before plugging
the device in the first time.

The reader is supposed to be automatically installed by
xp and comes with no installation software.

I had a previously installed smartmedia reader that i
gave away, is there any way that the previous reader
affected teh usb drivers?

Anything is possible. Use device manager to remove all the
USB ports and hubs and reboot.
Then reinstall your devices, one at a time.
