While still using Win98 SE I installed a BusLink USB 2.0 expansion card and
used the included CD to install the drivers. When I clean-installed XP Home
it recognized the card and installed drivers. HOWEVER - somewhere down the
road I read that the XP default drivers are not USB 2.0, and unless Device
Manager specifically lists them as 2.0 then they are running as USB 1.x
(mine does not show 2.0 in the listing).

Questions:

1. Is the above true?
2. If yes, what is the proper or accepted method for installing the 2.0
drivers from the CD? Do I simply run the setup program from the CD
(overwriting the current drivers), or do I need to delete the current
drivers first?

Thanks,
Cooter

I have also had similar problems with a usb 2 card I
installed at the weekend and I have service pk 1
installed. The usb ports as shown as usb 1 ports.

I will follow this thread with interest

If you have XP SP1 or 1a installed you can right click on My Computer. Left
click on properties. Left click on Hardware tab. Left click on Device
manager. When the window opens and populates click on the + mark next to
Universal Serial Bus Controllers at the bottom of the list. If you see
enhanced on any of the items, USB 2.0 is enabled. You also may see USB 2.0
for some controller components.

I had USB 2.0 before SP1 came out and ASUS couldn't provide me with the drivers.
So as soon as SP1 came out I figured everything would be fine. WRONG! Stupid SP1
couldn't recognize I had USB2.0. The solution was that I had to
manually load them. Everything has worked fine since then. :-)
