Do the instructions with the enclosure say it will
work with USB 1.1? Do you get any errors?
What type drive did you install in the enclosure?
Are you sure you set the jumpers for the drive
correctly?

I installed an hard disk , the enclosure didn't say that
it would work with USB 1.1 , but isn't USB 2 backward
compatible . the jumper in cable select mode.

thanks

If I were you I'd go ahead and spring for a usb2 cardbus adaptor for your
laptop. You can pick one up for about $35. Running a hard drive at usb1
speed is extremely slow.

The complete USB2 standard is but some manufacturer cut corners and do not
use the complete standard.
