Hi,
You said upgraded from ME to XP; are you meaning just upgraded from ME to XP
but not a clean installing of XP ? Clean install means you need to format the
HDD to clear all the old stuffs and install XP; and than install all other
chispset drivers and applications, then update all the necessary patches from
windows update website.
However, I would suggest you to download and install the latest XP
compatible chipset drivers for your model from the laptop manufacturer's
website. Don't try to update the mobo BIOS if you know nothing about this; as
an improper update of BIOS will turn your laptop into a dead stone and the
repair cost is expensive.
If the problem still exists after updated the chipset drivers, pls post back
to NG with the name and model of your laptop so that someone may help you.
