Hi peeps,

Anyone know the most cost effective way to upgrade a laptop's USB 1.0 ports to
2.0 without using a hammer and a screwdriver?

The simplest way is to add a pcmcia USB2 card, unless you're already using
the port for something else. With that option closed I'm thinking small
crowbar.

thanks for the reply. so it's just a question of slotting a USB2 card in the
back and that's it?! i don't use any ports for anything else usually... I just
want to be able to use an ipod with fast data transfer rates

That should be it. Of course you would install the drivers for the card, but
after that you're ready to go.

You can't. It requires new hardware internally. Time for a new laptop.

I'm confused. can't u just get this card thing and use that?

Yeah, you can. Dave was just saying you can't turn USB 1 into USB 2. You can
*add* USB 2 with a PC Card however.
